Alpha Omega Coatings P/L has been in the business of corrosion control for nearly 10 years and has dealt with different types of solvent free paint systems and different chemistries. Having worked with 2 component solvent free coating systems, from a manufacturer out of USA, we have found the following limitations with such
products:
- Pot life dependency on ambient temperature- 2 component systems cure
chemically through a catalytic reaction that is exothermic. When ambient
temperatures exceed 30°C there is a dramatic reduction of pot life. This
leads to all sorts of application problems on site.
- Lack of uniformity in physical properties - such as elasticity, diffusivity,
adhesion etc. that is dependent on ambient temperatures and adherence to
mixing ratios during application/installation.
- High wastage- 2 component systems have very limited pot life and hence lead to excessive wastage especially when carrying out first aid repairs on existing coating systems.
Alpha Omega Coatings P/L has developed a range of single component products collectively forming the Alpha Line of marine coatings. Alpha Line coatings are water based, single-component products formulated through a unique process of cross linking urethanes, acrylics and co-polymers. Incorporating aggregates such as micro ceramic beads and high grade silicates into the resin blends enhances performance and provides an attractive, highly durable, impact-resistant, non slip surface.
